An overview of a prefabricated building

A prefabricated building is a building that is manufactured offsite in standard portions and later assembled and shipped at the final location. The main features of these buildings are that they can be put together pretty fast without the troubles of site built construction.  Not only are they less in cost, but also offer more flexibility in design. They can also be moved from one location to another.

A prefabricated building includes both modular structures and mobile trailers. They can be put together within an already constructed building. In exceptional cases, they can also be assembled on a non-concrete base. It is needless to say that prefabricated buildings have been found quite beneficial for disaster stuck areas, where instant temporary structures should be erected for provisions and shelter.

Prefabricated buildings can be assembled pretty quickly, sometimes within hours. They come with various amenities, including doors, electrical wiring, windows, shelves, bulletproof windows and climate control systems. Most of the manufacturers offer warranty of multiple years against wind loads, leakage and structural damage. They can also be made in multiple stories. One can choose the windows, doors, ceiling, flooring, columns, frames and wall panels. Most importantly, they are available in different color schemes.

However, there are a few drawbacks of prefabricated buildings that a concrete member knows. They will possibly depreciate more rapidly than site-built homes as they are not very popular yet. Moreover, the feel and look of prefabricated buildings doesn’t provide the diversity of a building constructed on site using conventional techniques.

Just like railroad sleeper, most of the prefabricated buildings are sold by dealers, but some manufacturers directly sell them. No matter from wherever you purchase, check the reputation of the manufacturer, contact with referrals and ask them about their experience. It is best to take quotes from multiple dealers before finalizing your order.
